Welcome to Swedaryn Island Narrow Gauge Railway
Welcome to fictional Swedaryn Island! A former colony of the British Empire, it has gained it´s independence in 1946. The island has a small narrow gauge network connecting communities and industries. You will find farms, forestry, quarry, coal mine and several heavy duty industries, like a sawmill or a breadery. Perhaps the most important is the harbour in Sharadise City. It allows for various imports and exports, and it is the source of fish for the island. The tractors are old, running on steam and there are no cars on the island. Majority of the cargo is transported by trains. Enjoy this tiny island and it´s many looks, twisting tracks and sharp corners.
This route is a small work of fiction that started about 2 years ago. Initially I built a not-so-detailed version, which was more oriented at having some fun in small spaces with narrow gauge trains. Many of the routes available did not interest me, and while Philskene´s routes have been a slight motivation, I never had a true inspiration for this project. I simply decided to build it. After about a year, I decided to upgrade the route. New vegetation, new trains, new sessions and seasonality. I spent a lot of time crafting this route, trying to balance performance and small details. While the track layout has not been changed since the initial version, the industry chain has been revised and updated, using new assets to bring it to life a bit more.
The most notable locations are the 3 towns - Sharadise City, Eagle Town and Brandt Village. Each one is a host to different industry type. Be it the Harbour, Brickworks, Breadery or Sawmill. The other locations not tied to a town are Zefek´s and Thomas´s Farms, Coal Mine, Quarry and Logging Camp.
The tracks across the island are all 600mm gauge.
